    How to configure Getac Remote with a CradlePoint router

    Overview

    Notes:

    • The following instructions were tested using the CradlePoint's Wi-Fi connection
    • Additional steps may be needed for wired connection
    • As we do not support CradlePoint, this is us attempting to provide the best effort support
    • Getac Video Support will NOT troubleshoot CradlePoint issues. This is the customers' responsibility.

    Set up DHCP reservation

    1. Log into NetCloud.
    2. Click on Devices.
    3. Select the router for the vehicle.
    4. Click on Configure > Edit.
    5. Click on Networking > local network > DHCP Servers > Add.
      • HostName will be the UnitID.
      • Hardware addr is the physical address of the network adaptor used for CradlePoint connection.
        • Can be found on the diagnostic tab in Getac InCar Application.
      • IP Addr: 192.168.12.1XX(last two character is the last two char of UnitID)
    6. Save
    7. Commit Change

     

    DVR Configuration

    • On the DVR, we need to make sure that the DHCP reservation was set up correctly
      • Connect to CradlePoint Wi-Fi (If using Wi-Fi) else make sure DVR is plugged into CradlePoint via Ethernet.
        • Press Windows key and click on network adapter on lower right corner
        • Select network 
      • Open Command Prompt 
        • Press Windows Key
        • Type CMD
      • Run # ipconfig 
        • Verify if IP matches DHCP reservation IP you configured earlier 
      • If IP address does not match, run the following commands to get a new IP address.
        • # ipconfig /release 
        • # ipconfig /renew 

     

    Laptop

    • The last step is to configure Getac Remote to use the IP Address we configured.
      • Open explorer and head to C:\Program Files (x86)\IRSARemote.
      • Copy RemoteDisplay.exe.config to the desktop.
      • Open the file with notepad.
      • Edit the IP address to match the IP address we configured on the CradlePoint.
      • Replace the original RemoteDisplay.exe.config with the one we just edited.
      • Launch Getac Remote to make sure it works.
